When you’re organizing an amazing TEDx event, you want to recruit an amazing TEDx team.
Our volunteers are the most important people we’ll need to make sure all TEDxAkron events are smart, engaging and successful.
Currently we are seeking to build a new volunteer planning team for TEDxAkron to support all aspects of the operations: sponsorship and fundraising, public relations, promotion, speaker program leadership, speaker coaching, social media, volunteer leadership, bookkeeping and more. Available Volunteer Roles
Curator | Curators work with the Co-Organizers to help decide who will be speaking at TEDxAkron events. These individuals may also be used as Speaker Coaches.
Speaker Coach | Speaker Coaches are individuals who have experience and expertise in helping to coach, educate, edit and support TEDxAkron speakers in advance and during TEDxAkron events. PLEASE NOTE: We are asking that individuals who apply as Speaker Coaches are either former TEDx speakers or experienced speaker coaches.
Executive Producer | The Executive Producer will lead all production and planning for the day of the event, overseeing all of the roles and tasks taking place in advance and the day of TEDxAkron events related to content production, stage management, technology, and video.
Event Manager | Event Managers help with TEDxAkron event day-of logistics, and are responsible for creating a “TEDx experience” for guests and speakers. They serve as the contact for venue staff, manage day-of event activities outside of the main stage, and are often in charge of ticketing and registration needs.
Sponsorship, Partnership and Fundraising Manager | The Sponsorship, Partnership and Fundraising Manager is responsible for the process and oversight of team members raising money from sponsors for event expenses. PLEASE NOTE: We are asking that individuals who apply for this role have current or past experience with fundraising and development, since this is one of the most important components of the event planning process.
Sponsorship, Partnership and Fundraising Team Member | Sponsorship, Partnership and Fundraising volunteers are responsible for working as part of a team raising money and building partnerships from sponsors for event expenses. PLEASE NOTE: We are asking that individuals who apply for these roles have current or past experience with fundraising and development, since this is one of the most important components of the event planning process.
Finance Manager | Finance Managers help support the organizational, promotional and event budgets and finances for TEDxAkron.
Communications, Editorial and Marketing Manager | The Communications, Editorial and Marketing Manager is responsible for the process and oversight of team members who help support our online, media, marketing and editorial presence of TEDxAkron events, including the team member who is responsible for promoting TEDxAkron events to the public.
Communications, Editorial and Marketing Team Member | Communications, Editorial and Marketing Team Member volunteers are responsibility for working as part of the team supporting our online, media, marketing and editorial presence of TEDxAkron events.
Video and Production Manager | The Video and Production Manager oversees the video and production elements for TEDxAkron events – from managing audio and video needs, camera operators and the livestream of our event.
Volunteer Program Manager | The Volunteer Program Manager for TEDxAkron is responsible for the recruitment, education, paperwork and management of all special events and general support volunteers for the TEDxAkron team that will include interns, event and group volunteers, and other ad hoc volunteerism.
